Oil monitoring

Condition monitoring:
Condition monitoring is an essential part of a healthy hydraulic installation.
RMF Systems offers you a range of condition monitoring equipment. Our particle counters enable you to efficiently monitor oil cleanliness levels and our moisture sensors can report the water content in your fluid. Combinations of these measuring devices are also possible. The monitoring equipment can be permanently installed or offered as portable package.

Quantifying solid contaminant particles in a sample:
The International Standards Organisation standard ISO 4406 is the preferred method of quoting the number of solid contaminant particles in a sample. The following pictures will give you an idea what this would look like using laboratory equipment.

ISO 23/21/18                         ISO 18/15/13                          ISO 15/13/8

Structure of ISO 4406 Code:
Cleanliness levels are defined by three numbers divided by slashes (/) These numbers correspond to 4, 6 and 14 micron, in that order. Each number refers to an ISO Range Code which is determined by the number of particles for that size (4, 6,14 micron) and larger present in 100 ml of fluid. Each range is double the range below. Refer to the RMF ISO Cleanliness levels sheet to see the actual ranges.

Low cost in-line Contamination Sensor (CMS):
RMF Systems offer a low cost in-line Contamination Sensor (CMS) which automatically measures and displays particulate contamination.
It also measures moisture and temperature levels in various hydraulic fluids where ongoing measurement or analysis is required.

The low cost Contamination Sensor (CMS) is equipped with 8 channels for solid contamination measurement and a Moisture (RH) & Temperature option. It reports in any of the international standard formats ISO 4406:1999, NAS 1638, AS 4059E and ISO 11218.
